ESOS LEAD ASSESSORS
Master the ESOS Action Plan
The Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) is a compulsory energy assessment programme for eligible organisations in the UK.
Managed by the Environment Agency, ESOS mandates that qualifying organisations evaluate their energy consumption every four years. This includes conducting audits of energy usage in buildings, industrial processes, and transportation.
Phase 4 is currently in progress, with the initial reporting deadline set for 5th December 2024—just six months following the Phase 3 reporting deadline.
In contrast to previous ESOS phases, which only required one compliance submission every four years, businesses must now submit an annual progress report to the Environment Agency (EA). The organisation in charge is also required to establish an action plan outlining future energy-saving initiatives.
ESOS GUIDANCE
What is ESOS?
ESOS (Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme) is a mandatory energy assessment scheme for qualifying organisations within the UK.
Administered by the Environment Agency, ESOS requires eligible organisations to review their energy use every 4 years, which include audits of energy used in buildings, industrial processes and transport.
Risks of non-compliance with ESOS
Non-compliances, or failure to submit on time, could incur a fixed penalty charge of £50,000 from the Environment Agency. Fines are set to increase for each day of non-compliance.
