Wellbeing - how we go beyond to support our employees

As employers, we understand that the wellbeing of our employees is one of the most important factors in creating a productive and healthy work environment.

That’s why we strive to go beyond the typical workplace benefits and create an atmosphere where our employees feel supported and valued.

People are at the heart of what we do and we strive to adopt a preventative and proactive approach to wellbeing within our workplace.

Beyond providing basic needs such as a safe and healthy workplace, we want to go the extra mile to ensure our employees are in a state of wellbeing. We’re taking steps to establish this through a wellbeing committee: a group of employees and representatives from across the business, who work together to create strategies and initiatives that promote employee wellbeing. So far, the committee has successfully rolled out a wellbeing survey during the company’s annual conference event, which focused on five key focus areas: Mental & Physical Health, Role, Communication, Relationships, Control).

Results of the initial survey netted great feedback overall and gained further support from the Senior Leadership Team regarding the focus areas and resolutions raised. The improvement areas identified, which are focused on communication and systems, involvement and decision making and improving work life balance. As part of this commitment, the wellbeing committee have agreed a number of initiatives to support these areas, which include:

  • Increasing awareness of mental health across the business
  • Creating a sub-committee with mental health first aiders
  • Monitoring working hours to improve a work life balance
  • Implementing further management training

The aim of the committee is to improve employees’ overall wellbeing. This will be measured and compared against the next wellbeing survey, at the end of 2023.

The Wellbeing Committee are optimistic that the foundations in place will result in a brighter and (mentally) healthier future for all at Optimised.
